Arquus presents its Sherpa Light for Romania

European leader of protected mobility and member of AB Volvo Group, French company Arquus is competing for the Romanian Army’s tender for new armored vehicles, alongside its Romanian industrial partners. In the framework of that tender, Arquus has organized a special event on September 21st close to the Capital Bucharest, aimed at presenting the vehicle platform as well as the industrial strategy selected.


During that event, Arquus has unveiled its Sherpa Light 4×4 armored vehicle, as well a comprehensive plan to build long-term alliances with Romanian Defense industries. These alliances will allow to ensure high-value activities to be located in Romania, with a complete ramp-up plan to meet the Romanian Armed Forces needs. They will also allow increased cooperation within the European Defense industries, by creating mutually beneficial partnerships on new markets.
Heir to renowned companies such as Renault Trucks Defense, ACMAT and Panhard, Arquus is a major partner of the French Army, with more than 25,000 vehicles currently in service, but also a partner for the Romanian Armed Forces, having supplied 16 PVP 4×4 armored vehicles, while some of its Sherpa family vehicle are in service in NATO units in Romania.

The Sherpa is a multipurpose, 4×4 armored vehicle, designed by Arquus to provide with a wide array of versions and customizations for all needs and missions, built on a single, proven base for increased commonality and ease of maintenance. The Sherpa offered is a modern, new-generation vehicle, which is built on many years of industrial experience, operational deployments on the battlefield and maintenance. It notably benefits from a new engine and an improved mobility, both on and off-roads.
The Sherpa family is currently comprised of four base models: the Sherpa Scout, an armored vehicle for liaison and reconnaissance seating 4 or 5 soldiers; the Carrier, fitted with a bed for troop or systems transport; the APC, for troop protected transport; and the Sabre, designed for the needs of the Special Forces. In its different versions, the Sherpa can tackle most missions and carry most of the equipment of the Defense and Security forces.
NATO and French-Army qualified, the Sherpa Light is a vehicle of choice, already deployed on all theaters of operations and in all configurations, and combat-proven on several occasions. More than 1,000 Sherpa Light vehicles have already been ordered and delivered, a milestone which crowns the quality of design, versatility, and durability of the Sherpa.
