Volvo Trucks continues to lead the deployment of zero-tailpipe emission trucks across the world. In North America, the company now launches an enhanced version of its Volvo VNR Electric with up to 85% increased range and faster charging.
Now the first independent energy efficiency test with a fully loaded heavy-duty electric Volvo truck has been done in Germany. The electric truck exceeded its official range and used 50% less energy than its diesel counterpart.
Volvo Trucks has received an order for an additional 25 heavy electric trucks from DFDS, Northern Europe’s largest shipping and logistics company. The new vehicles are on top of the record order of 100 Volvo FM electric trucks that was made in October, adding up to a total of 125 electric trucks for DFDS.

A feature to maintain battery performance, even when the temperature is far below zero.
Siemens Mobility and Continental Engineering Services(CES) will cooperate in the future on the development and manufacture of pantographs for trucks. The eHighway technology from Siemens mobility supplies trucks with electricity via an overhead line. The cooperation aims to electrify key stretches of highway-networks in Germany’s autobahn network with overhead contact lines and thus significantly reduce CO 2 emissions from trucks. The new partnership combines expertise from two technology worlds: Siemens Mobility is a specialist in rail electrification, Continental Engineering Servicesis a development and production service provider for automotive technologies. The two companies will now pool their know-how to quickly achieve series production of truck pantograph
With the sales start this year of three new heavy-duty all-electric models, Volvo Trucks believes the time is right for a rapid upswing in electrification of heavy road transport. This positive outlook is based on the ability of Volvo’s electric trucks to meet a broad variety of transport needs. In the EU for example, almost half of all truck transports could be electrified in the near future.
